WOODBURY POLICE DEPARTMENT CRIME BLOTTER
12-19-2024 TO 12-21-2024

On 12/19, officers were dispatched to Metro PCS to handle a dispute. Employees reported that they attempted to assist a customer with an email issue but were unable to resolve the problem. The customer became increasingly agitated, began yelling at the employee, and refused to leave the premises. Officers tried to calm the customer down, but he continued to yell and assume a fighting stance toward them. The male was placed under arrest and found to have active warrants. All three issuing jurisdictions provided a Recognizance Release (ROR) with new court dates. Summonses for disorderly conduct and breach of peace were issued, with the court date still pending.

On 12/19, a S. Broad Street resident reported that her Ring doorbell camera was stolen. After reviewing the doorbell footage, the suspect was identified as a Westville juvenile. Charges are pending for theft.

On 12/20, a Camden resident turned himself in on active warrants. The male was arrested and transported to Salem County Jail.

On 12/21, a resident of Woodbury was charged with DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to show insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident, being uninsured, and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. A court date is pending.

12-16-2024 TO 12-18-2024

On 12/16, a resident of South Broad Street was issued a summons for being in Lot 323 after dark, despite being warned on several previous occasions that the park is closed at that time. The court date is pending.

On 12/17, officers responded to a shoplifting incident at Wawa in Woodbury Heights. Employees reported that a male entered the store, walked around for 15 minutes, picked up a box of candy valued at $69.00, and left without paying. The employees provided a description of the male, as well as details about his vehicle’s make, model, and license plate. Officers were able to identify both the male and the vehicle driver, who are residents of Camden and Sicklerville, respectively. Both individuals have been charged with shoplifting, and the driver received a summons for operating an unregistered vehicle. Court dates are pending.

On 12/18, a resident of Woodbury arrived at the police headquarters to turn herself in on outstanding warrants. During this visit, she also confessed to using her sister’s name during a previous traffic stop. The summons issued in her sister’s name was declared invalid, and new summonses were issued for the correct individual. Both jurisdictions that issued the warrants granted her release on her own recognizance (ROR), and she was given a new court date before being released.

On 12/18, a resident of South Broad Street was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, contempt of court, and causing a false public alarm. The individual was lodged in the Salem County Jail, with a court date pending.

On 12/18, Barlow Buick reported damage to several of their vehicles, totaling $9,698.00. Employees informed that two males had damaged multiple vehicles and attempted to set fire to the property. Following an investigation, two juvenile males from Westville were charged with arson, criminal mischief resulting in damage, shoplifting from a previous report on the same day, and criminal trespassing. Court dates are pending.

12-13-2024 TO 12-15-2024

On 12/13, while patrolling the area of South Broad Street, officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The driver fled and drove recklessly. After a brief investigation, the driver was identified and charged with eluding a motor vehicle stop and 18 other traffic offenses. The subject was arrested on December 16 and transported to the Salem County Jail. A court date is pending.

On 12/13, officers followed up on an abandoned vehicle parked on Penn Street. The vehicle remained unregistered and was still in the same location, with the warning sticker still in place. It was towed, and summonses for having an unregistered vehicle and for abandoning a vehicle were issued to the registered owner, a resident of Vineland. A court date is pending.

On 12/14, a resident of Toms River, NJ, was charged with DUI, careless and reckless driving, failure to deliver their driver’s license, driving on the sidewalk, and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. The court date is pending.

On 12/14, during a motor vehicle stop, it was discovered that the driver had an active arrest warrant from Pine Hill. Pine Hill granted a release on recognizance (ROR), and he was released with a new court date.

On 12/15, a Westville resident was charged with possession of open alcohol and public consumption of alcohol. The court date is pending.

On 12/15, a resident from Sicklerville was charged with aggravated assault against healthcare workers. His court date is yet to be scheduled.

12-10-2024 TO 12-12-2024

On 12/10, officers were dispatched to a residence on Hopkins Street in response to a dispute. Both parties involved were uncooperative, so they were informed about how to file their own complaints with the courts if they decided to pursue the matter further. No additional police action was necessary.

On 12/10, a resident of Woodbury surrendered himself due to a warrant issued by Camden. The officers confirmed the existence of the warrant and informed Camden police, who were scheduled to pick up the individual. After an hour, the officers contacted Camden police again, who stated they were busy and requested that the Woodbury officers transport the individual to them. The officers complied and transported the subject to Camden.

On 12/11, a property owner on Chestnut Avenue was issued a summons for failing to obtain a certificate of occupancy. The court date is still pending.

On 12/11, during a pedestrian stop, it was discovered that the individual had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Cumberland County. During the search following the arrest, the male was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a traffic summons and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia before being transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

On 12/12, officers responded to the Wawa on N. Evergreen Avenue regarding a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that two men entered the store together and stole two cartons of Newport cigarettes. Officers were able to identify both individuals: one is a resident of West Deptford, and the other is from Blackwood. Both men have been charged with conspiracy to shoplift, while the man who took the cartons faces an additional charge of shoplifting. Court dates are pending.

On 12/12, a resident of Wilmington, North Carolina, called the police to report a theft. The victim explained that he had been visiting family in New Jersey for the Thanksgiving holiday. While there, he and his wife went to a CVS in Woodbury, where they purchased five gift cards, each loaded with $100, intended for their grandchildren for Christmas. Recently, he discovered that the gift cards had been scratched off prior to his purchase, and the money was no longer on the cards. This incident is currently under investigation.

12-4-2024 TO 12-6-2024

On 12/4, officers responded to a report of shoplifting at CVS. Employees reported that a woman filled a cart with merchandise valued at $80 and left the store without paying. After placing the items in a waiting vehicle with a female driver, she returned the cart while the vehicle drove away. The woman then walked toward Red Bank Avenue. The incident is still under investigation, and once the women are identified, they will be charged accordingly.

On 12/4, the owner of the Martin Plaza property contacted the police about illegal dumping. The caller reported that someone had discarded a sofa and dresser in front of their dumpsters. This issue has been ongoing, and the incident is currently under investigation.

On 12/5, property owners on Washington Avenue and Franklin Street received a summons for overgrown weeds, tall grass, and/or trash and debris after failing to address these issues. Court dates are pending.

On 12/6, a resident of the Carriage House Apartments was issued summonses for loud noise, breach of peace, and nuisance at a rental property after officers had been dispatched multiple times due to loud noise complaints. A court date is pending.

On 12/6, a resident of Somerdale received a traffic summons for creating a risk of a motor vehicle accident after rear-ending another car while stopped in traffic on Cooper Street. A court date is pending.

On 12/6, a small tan and white dog was found wandering on Carpenter Street. Officers brought her back to police headquarters, where she was placed in cell #3. A photo was taken and posted on the department’s Facebook page. The Chief’s assistant later broke her out of the cell and placed her in her office, where the dog enjoyed cuddles, playtime, water, and treats. Unfortunately, she had to be turned over to Animal Control when they arrived. About ten minutes later, her owners called the station to inquire about their dog, and they were advised on where to pick her up.

11-29-2024 TO 11-30-2024

On 11/29, a resident on Myrtle Avenue reported that several packages totaling $255.00 were stolen from his doorstep. Detectives identified two juveniles who were charged with theft. Court dates are pending.

On 11/29, officers responded to a Wawa in Woodbury Heights regarding a gas theft. Employees provided a description of the vehicle and its registration. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 11/30, a Philadelphia resident was charged with obstruction, disorderly conduct, and breach of peace after causing a disturbance inside Aldi. The court date is pending.

On 11/30, a resident of Leeds Place reported a package worth $370 was stolen after being delivered to her door. The incident is under investigation.

On 11/30, employees at the Antique Store reported that a young female, possibly a juvenile, had run out of the store wearing a pair of UGG boots that she did not pay for. A description of the suspect was provided to the police. The incident is still under investigation.

11-26-2024 TO 11-28-2024

On 11/26, an Atlanta, GA, resident was charged with third-degree theft, forgery, and third-degree bad checks after altering checks stolen from the mail and depositing them into her bank account. Her court date is pending.

On 11/26, Deptford Police arrested a male with an outstanding warrant from Woodbury. Woodbury officers turned him over to the Sheriff’s Department, which transported him to Salem County Jail. A court date is pending.

On 11/26, a Logan Street resident was issued summonses for public consumption of alcohol and possession of an open container of alcohol. Court date pending.

On 11/27, a West Deptford resident was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault as the result of a road rage incident that occurred earlier in the day. A court date is pending.

On 11/27, officers were dispatched to Wawa on N. Evergreen Avenue in response to a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that a male had taken several breakfast items and left without paying. Officers were able to locate the suspect inside the Carriage House Apartments. The male returned to the store to pay for the stolen items. However, Wawa requested that he be banned from the premises. It was also discovered that the individual had an active warrant for his arrest from Camden. He was subsequently transported to Camden County Jail.

On 11/27, a resident of King Street reported that he purchased a service through Etsy to preserve wedding flowers in epoxy but has not received any communication from the seller or his purchase. He has emailed the seller several times but has not received any response. The resident was advised on how to file a criminal complaint if he chooses to do so. He would like this incident documented in the hopes that his bank will reimburse him.

November 28, 2024 – HAPPY THANKSGIVING

11-23-2024 TO 11-25-2024

On 11/23, officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at Towne Liquor. Employees reported that a female customer entered the store, picked up a bottle of Windsor whiskey, and stood in line as if she intended to purchase it. However, she walked out of line and exited the store without paying. Detectives identified the suspect as a resident of South Broad Street and charged her accordingly. A court date is pending.

On 11/24, officers responded to a business on South Broad Street for a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the callers reported that as they were walking to their vehicles, they saw a juvenile male rummaging through one of their cars. The suspect fled the scene once he noticed he was being observed. Both employee’s vehicles had damage to their steering columns. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 11/24, a resident of Myrtle Avenue flagged down police to report that someone had attempted to enter their vehicle. The resident pointed out damage to the driver’s side door handle and indicated pry marks on the side of the door. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 11/25, a resident of Fourth Street was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, theft of a motor vehicle, and contempt of court following a domestic incident that took place both inside and outside the home. A court date is pending.

On 11/25, during a traffic stop, the driver provided several false names in an attempt to conceal her identity. She was eventually identified and found to have outstanding warrants for her arrest from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Maurice River Municipal Court. Summonses were issued for obstruction of justice, fraudulent registration, driving with a suspended license, failure to present a driver’s license, registration card, and insurance card, operating an unregistered vehicle, improper maintenance of vehicle lamps, lack of liability insurance, use of fictitious tags, and being an unlicensed operator. She was then taken to the Salem County Jail, and court dates are pending.
