On 2/19, officers were dispatched to Inspira for a report of smoke coming from the second floor. The fire auxiliary pump was found to be on fire, and the fire department promptly put the fire out. The incident is still under investigation.

On 2/19, a resident of National Park was issued a summons for lewd and indecent behavior after officers observed him urinating on the side of Little Caesar’s Pizza. The court date is pending.

On 2/19, officers were dispatched to Woodbury Nissan to investigate a theft report. The manager informed officers that overnight, someone had stolen two tires, valued at $1,610.00 from one of their vehicles. On 2/21, detectives arrested two residents of Mantua at their home, where the stolen tires were found on a vehicle in the driveway. One suspect was charged with third-degree theft and receiving stolen property, while the second suspect was charged with third-degree receiving stolen property. Their court dates are pending.

On 2/20, a resident of the National Park was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), failure to surrender CDS to the police, possession of CDS paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, CDS in a motor vehicle, and operating an unregistered vehicle. This occurred after the individual was found slumped over the steering wheel in a parking lot on E. Red Bank Avenue. The court date is pending.

On 2/20, a resident of Helen Avenue was charged with contempt of court for contacting a victim after being served a temporary restraining order (TRO). The court date is pending.

On 2/21, a Woodbury resident was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain her lane. The court date is pending.

On 2/21, a Mantua resident was charged with shoplifting from Wawa on N. Evergreen Avenue. Court date pending.

On 2/16, officers responded to a residence on Ford Avenue following reports of a raccoon, the size of a small dog, attempting to enter the home despite the owner’s objection. After several minutes of hide and seek, the homeowner successfully scared the raccoon away for the time being. If the raccoon can be contained, animal control is willing to come out and remove it. To be continued.

On 2/16, during a traffic stop, the driver, a resident of Deptford, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) paraphernalia, and failure to deliver CDS to the police. He also received traffic summonses for failure to inspect the vehicle, failing to signal at least 100 feet prior to making a turn, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. His court date is pending. The passenger, who is also a Deptford resident, was issued a summons for possessing an open container of alcohol. He was then transported to Salem County Jail due to an outstanding warrant for his arrest. His court date is also pending.

February 17, 2025 – Happy President’s Day

On 2/17, officers were dispatched to a residence on South Evergreen Avenue regarding a stolen motor vehicle. The caller reported that after having an argument with a friend, she packed some of her belongings, took her car keys, and left. The caller did not give her friend permission to use the vehicle. Eventually, officers contacted the female involved, and she agreed to return the vehicle within the hour. However, the vehicle was not returned, prompting officers to enter it into the NCIC as stolen. On 2/20, Logan Township police recovered the vehicle along with the female driver. The victim was able to retrieve her vehicle, and the suspect was taken into custody and lodged in the Salem County Jail. A court date is pending.

On 2/17, a resident of West Deptford received traffic summonses for having fictitious plates, failing to signal, driving an unregistered vehicle, and not showing a driver’s license, registration, and insurance cards. Court dates are pending.

On 2/18, a Sewell resident was charged with theft of movable property, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and possession of burglary tools after attempting to remove a sink from a closed area of Inspira Hospital. The individual also cut a pipe, which caused flooding and approximately $30,000 in damage. It was later discovered that a significant amount of copper piping was also taken from the fourth floor. A court date is pending.

On 2/18, an officer responded to a residence on S. Woodland Avenue regarding a report of a broken front passenger window. The victim stated that an unknown person had thrown a landscaping rock through the window, causing it to shatter. It appears that no one entered the vehicle and nothing was stolen. There are currently no suspects in the case.

On 2/13, while on patrol, officers observed a male whom they recognized as having active warrants. Officers made contact with the male and informed him of his warrants. He was then taken into custody and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

On 2/13, property owners on Euclid Street and Salem Avenue were issued summonses for not obtaining a certificate of occupancy and failing to register their rental properties with the city. They had previously been given time to correct these violations. Court dates are pending.

On 2/14, during a motor vehicle stop, it was learned that the driver had an active arrest warrant. The issuing municipality granted an ROR and a new court date. A summons for failure to exhibit registration was issued. The court date is pending.

On 2/14, Barrington Police turned over a Lindenwold resident who had a warrant for his arrest for simple assault. The male was transported to Salem County Jail. The court date is pending.

On 2/15, a resident of Paulsboro received traffic summonses for driving with a suspended license, being an unlicensed driver, and failing to present their driver’s license. The court date is pending.

On 2/15, officers were dispatched to a business on S Broad Street following a report of a male causing a disturbance. The manager explained that a customer had been threatening and spitting at her staff because he was denied two sides for the price of one. The male and his female companion left when they realized the police had been called. Although they do not wish to file complaints, they want the individuals trespassed to prevent any future issues. The incident remains under investigation.

On 2/10, officers were dispatched to CVS in response to a shoplifting complaint. Employees reported that a female had concealed $275 worth of merchandise in a black trash bag and left the store without paying. Officers located the suspect near Lukoil. The stolen merchandise was returned to CVS. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had five outstanding warrants for her arrest. Before being transferred to Mantua Police Department, the Gloucester City resident was charged with shoplifting. A court date is pending.

On 2/11, several residents reported having their vehicle’s catalytic converters stolen. The incidents are currently under investigation.

On 2/12, officers were dispatched to Heritage on North Broad Street to investigate a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that a male attempted to pay for three packs of cigarettes, but when the payment did not go through, he grabbed the bag from the employees’ hands and ran out of the store. Detectives quickly identified the suspect as a resident of Jackson Road in Mantua, and he has been charged with shoplifting. A court date is pending.

On 2/12, a representative from Walgreens on S. Broad Street reported that the building had been vandalized/burglarized between November 2024 and February 2025. Damage was observed to the walls, ceilings, electrical systems, and copper fixtures. The caller estimates that the cost of repairs will be approximately $25,000, but they will notify the police once a complete estimate is finalized. This incident is currently under investigation.

On 2/7, a Monroeville resident was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia after being found unconscious inside her vehicle in a North Evergreen Avenue parking lot. The court date is pending.

On 2/7, officers were dispatched to Colonial Park Apartments in response to a theft report. The caller stated that she had guests over a few days prior, during which $724 in cash was stolen from her wallet. She did not witness the theft but wanted to report the incident and sign complaints. Since the caller could only provide the suspects’ first names and approximate height and weight, the officers could not identify the women involved. The caller was advised to contact the police if the women returned so their identities could be confirmed.

On 2/7, a Carpenter Street resident was issued summonses for allowing their dog to run at large and for failing to license the dog after it escaped and attacked another dog in its yard. The court date is pending.

On 2/8, a resident of Spring Street turned himself in on an active warrant issued by the Rowan University Police Department. The department granted him a release on his own recognizance (ROR) with a requirement to pay $200 in cash. He was given a new court date and then left the station.

On 2/8, officers were dispatched to the Wawa located on N. Evergreen Avenue after receiving a report of a man rummaging through the trash inside the store. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual, who was already banned from the premises. It was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by the Camden County Sheriff’s Department. The man was issued summonses for trespassing, disorderly conduct, and breach of peace before being taken to the Camden County Jail. A court date is pending.

On 2/9, during a traffic stop, the driver was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Monroe and was also driving with a suspended license. The issuing municipality granted her a release on her own recognizance (ROR) with a new court date. She was issued summonses for failure to signal, maintenance of lamps, careless driving, delaying traffic, improper use of the marked center lane, and driving with a suspended license. On 2/5, officers were dispatched to a residence on High Street in response to an attempted burglary. Upon arrival, the officers observed damage to the front door frame. The homeowner reported that repairs would cost approximately $2,000. The unknown male suspect was unable to gain entry into the home. The incident is still under investigation.

On 2/5, during a traffic stop for improper use of the center lane, the driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license and two active arrest warrants. Both Bellmawr and Camden granted an ROR with new court dates. The driver received summonses for driving with a suspended license, failure to exhibit license, and creating a risk of an accident. On 2/6, during a traffic stop it was discovered that the driver had an active arrest warrant from Camden. Before being transferred to Camden County Jail, summonses were issued for lamp maintenance and failure to exhibit the vehicle registration and insurance cards. The court dates are pending.

On 2/6, officers were dispatched to a residence on Jackson Street regarding an attempted vehicle theft. The caller reported that during the overnight hours, someone attempted to break the driver’s side window of her vehicle using a brick from her garden. The estimated cost to replace the damaged window is between $400 and $500. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 2/6, a resident of Sicklerville was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license, operating an unregistered vehicle, having no insurance, and displaying fictitious license plates. A court date is pending.

On 2/1, a resident of Westville was observed standing in front of McDonald’s with an open container of alcohol. The alcohol was disposed of, and a summons for possession of an open container of alcohol was issued. A court date is pending.

On 2/2, a Philadelphia, PA resident was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with an unlawful purpose, possession of a weapon, possession of dum-dum bullets, and possession of a large capacity magazine. Several traffic summonses were also issued. Court date pending.

On 2/3, a property owner on Washington Ave. was issued a summons for failing to resolve high weeds/grass and low-hanging branches blocking an intersection view. The court date is pending.

On 2/3, officers responded to a burglary report at a business on Delaware Street. Upon arrival, they found that the front glass door and an interior glass door had been shattered. The owner informed them that approximately $100 had been stolen from an office, but nothing else appeared to be missing. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 2/3, a Blackwood resident was issued two summonses for disorderly conduct and two summonses for breach of peace after causing a disturbance at a Myrtle Avenue residence and again at Inspira. The court date is pending.

On 2/3, a resident of Queen Street was charged with shoplifting $112 worth of merchandise from Dollar General. A traffic summons for an unregistered vehicle was also issued. The court date is pending.

On 1/29, officers assisted the West Deptford police in apprehending a male suspect wanted for aggravated assault, simple assault, making terroristic threats, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The suspect was observed walking on East Red Bank Avenue. Before he was handed over to West Deptford police, a summons for hindering apprehension was issued because he provided officers with a false name.

On 1/30, a Cooper Street resident reported someone stole the front and back license plates from his vehicle sometime overnight. The plates were entered NCIC stolen. The victim was advised a report would be on file and how to obtain a copy to take to the MVC.

On 1/30, during a traffic stop for an expired registration, the officer discovered that the driver had an active warrant from Cherry Hill. Cherry Hill granted a Release on Recognizance (ROR) and scheduled a new court date. The driver received a summons for expired registration and for failing to provide a driver’s license. The court date is pending.

On 1/31, a West Deptford resident turned herself in on an active warrant from Stratford Borough. An ROR was granted with a new court date.

On 1/31, during a traffic stop for speeding, it was discovered that the driver had an active warrant from Camden. Due to the nature of the warrant, she was not granted a release on recognizance (ROR). A traffic summons was issued before she was turned over to Camden Metro. The court date is still pending.

On 1/26, a resident of Morris Street was charged with aggravated assault and simple assault following a domestic incident on South Broad Street. The individual was taken to Salem County Jail, and a court date is pending.

On 1/26, a resident of E. Centre Street was charged with careless driving, failure to maintain lanes, creating a risk of an accident, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and driving under the influence. The court date is pending.

On 1/27, officers were dispatched to a residence on High Street regarding an unwanted individual. The property owner reported that one of their tenants was allowing her son to live in the apartment without being on the lease. The son had also damaged the door to the common area after being locked out. The owner was advised on how to file complaints with the courts for criminal mischief and informed about the eviction process.

On 1/28, officers were dispatched to a residence on North Evergreen Avenue in response to a theft complaint. The caller reported that she had been away for three days, and upon her return, she discovered that two televisions and a jar of coins were missing. The victim suspects an individual who was the only person with a key to her apartment. Management has since changed the locks to prevent this person from entering her apartment again. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 1/28, a resident reported that a 30-foot trailer with no tags had been parked on Queen Street. Officers spoke with the vehicle’s owner and agreed that the trailer would be moved by February 13; otherwise, summonses would be issued. Officers will follow up on February 13.

On 1/23, a Lindsey Drive resident was found to have an active warrant for her arrest from Monroe Township. An ROR was granted, and a new court date was issued.

On 1/23, officers were dispatched to a residence on High Street in response to a report of harassment. The caller explained that he had previously experienced issues with his neighbors, which he believed had been resolved. However, he recently felt that his neighbors were retaliating against him by throwing trash onto his property and playing loud music. Officers informed him about the process of filing complaints with the Deptford court.

On 1/24, a resident of West Centre Street reported that his neighbors were using his yard as a pathway to access the sidewalk. They were dragging their trash cans through his yard and placing them beside his home instead of in front of their own property. The resident mentioned that he had previously asked them not to use his property as a shortcut to the sidewalk. He was advised on the process of filing complaints with Deptford Court. Officers spoke to the neighbors, and they agreed to stop using his property as a pathway and to place their trash cans in front of their own homes on trash days.

On 1/24, officers were dispatched to Aldi for a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that a woman was seen walking around the store and placing merchandise into her bag. When confronted, she returned a few items but left with the remaining merchandise. Officers were able to positively identify the woman, as they had previous contact with her regarding shoplifting. She has been charged with shoplifting and banned from the store. A court date is pending.

On 1/25, a resident of Hemlock Terrace reported a stolen license plate. The caller explained that he had sold a trailer to a resident of Maple Shade, allowing him to take the trailer home with the intention of returning the license plate the following day. However, the buyer continued to make excuses for not returning, leading the seller to believe the plate should be reported as stolen. The license plate number has been entered into the NCIC as stolen.

On 1/25, while conducting foot patrol in the area of North Broad Street and Newton Avenue, officers observed a female holding an open bottle of Smirnoff Ice. A summons for possession of an open container of alcohol was issued. A court date is pending.
