7-15-2024 TO 7-21-2024

On 7/15, a resident of Deptford was issued summonses for obstructing the public sidewalk and breach of peace after being advised that he could not sleep on the sidewalk. Offers of assistance in finding him a place to sleep were declined. The individual became irate and started yelling profanities at the officers, prompting members of the public to exit their building to see what the commotion was about. Court dates are pending.

On 7/15, officers responded to Wawa in Woodbury Heights for a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that a male entered the store, took several items from the shelves, and ran out of the store without paying. They provided officers with the vehicle registration number from the vehicle he fled the area in. Several days later, detectives were able to positively identify the male as a Woodbury resident and he was charged accordingly. A court date is pending.

On 7/15, a Camden resident was arrested and charged with violating a final restraining order. The woman was then turned over to Salem County Jail with a court date pending.

On 7/16, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop because the vehicle did not have a front license plate. The driver was found to have a warrant for her arrest, and she did not have a driver’s license. The issuing municipality granted an ROR, and she was released with the following summonses: driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving after her license was suspended, and having unclear plates. The woman, a West Deptford resident, was advised not to drive the vehicle. A court date is pending.

On 7/16, several E. Barber Avenue residents were issued municipal ordinance violations for High weeds/grass after failing to resolve the issue. Court dates are pending.

On 7/17, while patrolling the area of the YMCA, officers observed a man near the baseball field drinking a beer. The beer was disposed of and a summons for possession of an open container of alcohol was issued. The court date is pending.
On 7/18, officers were dispatched to Wawa in Woodbury Heights for a motor vehicle theft. The victim explained that he had left the keys inside his vehicle and went inside Wawa. When he and his girlfriend returned, his vehicle was gone. The vehicle was reported as stolen in NCIC. Several hours later, Camden police advised that they had found the vehicle and a male juvenile who was driving it. After investigating the incident, it was found that the juvenile driver was the same person who stole the vehicle from the Wawa in Woodbury Heights. Charges for theft of motor vehicle and receiving stolen property were filed and sent to his mother’s address in Camden. A court date is pending.

On 7/18, a resident of Wick Blvd. reported that someone had rummaged through her husband’s vehicle overnight. Nothing appeared to be taken. The incident remains under investigation.

On 7/18, a property owner on S. Broad Street received a municipal ordinance violation summons for high weeds/grass and trash/debris after failing to rectify the situation. A court date is pending.

On 7/18, a Williamstown resident was charged with criminal mischief after punching his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle window, causing it to shatter. Court dates are pending.

On 7/19, Towne Liquors reported a shoplifting. A female entered the store and walked out without paying for a bottle of Tequila. The incident remains under investigation; once the female is identified, she will be charged accordingly.

On 7/19, a resident of S. Jackson Street reported to the police that her home had been burglarized while she was on vacation. Numerous necklaces, watches, and other pieces of jewelry were stolen. The incident is currently under investigation.

On 7/20, while conducting a pedestrian stop, it was discovered that the subject had a 2015 warrant for his arrest. The issuing municipality granted an ROR, and he was released with a new court date.

On 7/20, during a motor vehicle stop, the driver was found to have an active traffic warrant. The issuing municipality granted an ROR, and she was released with a new court date.

On 7/21, officers were called to Colonial Park Apartments for a complaint of criminal mischief. The victim reported that her vehicle had been scratched while she was at work there. She doesn’t have any suspects at this time, and this incident is still under investigation.
