On 10/17, officers responded to a disturbance outside Town Liquors. Upon arrival, both parties claimed they had struck each other in self-defense. Neither party showed signs of injury, and there were no witnesses to the assault. Officers advised both parties on how to file complaints with the Deptford Joint Municipal Court and then sent them their separate ways.
On 10/17, a resident of Woodbury received multiple summonses for various offenses, including breach of peace, disorderly conduct, delaying traffic, driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, failure to signal, and failure to provide registration and insurance cards. Additionally, the resident was cited for touring privileges related to out-of-state registration. A court date is pending.
On 10/18, a resident of E. Barber Avenue was charged with improper behavior, using offensive language, resisting arrest, and breach of peace after causing a disturbance outside Autumn Woods Apartments. The apartment resident also received municipal ordinance violations related to breach of peace, nuisance, and ensuring guests obey laws and ordinances. Court dates are pending.
On 10/18, a resident from Bellmawr reported his attempts to register a vehicle he purchased on Facebook Marketplace. The DMV informed him that he could not register the vehicle due to a “title skip,” meaning the previous owner (the male he purchased it from) never registered the vehicle himself. He visited Executive Auto Sales in Woodbury, to try to resolve the issue, but unfortunately, this effort yielded negative results. The victim stated that he plans to handle the matter in civil court, but he needs a police report to assist the DMV. He was informed that a report would be filed and given instructions on how to request a copy of that report.
On 10/19, a Delaware Street resident was charged with simple assault as the result of a domestic incident that occurred inside the apartment. Court date pending.
On 10/19, a resident of Woodbury Heights reported that her wallet was stolen. She explained that she had left her wallet in her shopping cart after loading her groceries into her car and didn’t realize it was missing until she was nearly home. Upon returning to Aldi, an employee informed her that they had observed a male and female take the wallet and walk toward Lot 323. Officers approached the suspects, who were now shopping inside the Aldi, denied taking the wallet but allowed the officers to search their belongings. No wallet was found during the search. Both were banned from the Aldi upon management’s request. The victim was advised to contact her bank to cancel all her cards.
On October 19, officers were dispatched to Railroad Avenue in response to a theft report. The callers, a female from Secame, PA, and a male from Shamong, NJ, stated that they had purchased tickets for a vendor’s event at New Heart Church through an online app called Eventbrite. Upon their arrival, they found no one at the church or the event. They were advised to contact their bank and Em and Em LLC to request a refund. Attempts to get in touch with someone from the church were unsuccessful.
