On 3/1, K9 Adonis and his partner assisted the Deptford Police Department with a motor vehicle stop involving controlled dangerous substances. K9 Adonis located the substances and was rewarded. No further assistance was needed from K9 Adonis and his partner.
On 3/1, during a traffic stop, the driver, a Sicklerville resident, was found to have an active arrest warrant. The issuing municipality, Washington Township, granted a release on recognizance (ROR) and scheduled a new court date. The individual received a summons for not wearing a seatbelt and for driving with a suspended license. The court date is still pending.
On 3/2, officers were dispatched to a residence on S. Barber Ave in response to a fire. Upon arrival, flames were visible inside one side of the duplex. The Woodbury Fire Department, with assistance from neighboring departments, extinguished the fire. It was determined that the fire was caused by a cigarette that had been put out on a makeshift plastic ashtray. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the American Red Cross was contacted to provide housing assistance for the victims.
On 3/2, officers were dispatched to Acme to respond to a shoplifting incident. Employees reported that a male had taken several packages of Tide Pods worth $80 and left the store without paying. Officers observed a man walking near Performance Dodge who matched the suspect’s description and was carrying a large black trash bag. A pedestrian stop was conducted, and he was positively identified as the shoplifting suspect possessing the Tide Pods. The items were returned to Acme, and the male, a resident of Lindenwold, was charged with shoplifting. A court date is pending.
On 3/3, officers were dispatched to Acme for a brush fire. The Woodbury Fire Department arrived and successfully extinguished the fire. Employees provided a description of a male who was last seen walking away from the scene. Detectives positively identified him as a resident of S. Columbia Street, and he has been charged with arson. A court date is pending.
On 3/3, a resident of Bellmawr walked into police headquarters to turn himself in for any active warrants he might have. The warrant was confirmed, and he was transferred to Deptford for processing. No further assistance was needed.
Update on the Ford Avenue raccoon: The raccoon has refused to enter the humane trap for transport to a more suitable area for its lifestyle. Instead, the raccoon is playfully posing for the camera outside the trap. Raccoon: 2, Homeowner: 0.
